IVIG Today

Yesterday (Wednesday) was the start of another 3-day IV pulsing. This round also included two days of IVIG starting Thursday (6hrs per IVIG and 1.5 hrs of solumedrol). Starting the IV was a little difficult again. Took three sticks this time and we ended up moving up the same vein on her right arm. The left arm has proven difficult to use and we have yet to start on in that forearm. Also - her temp was 100.3 at the time we started the solumedrol IV but by the time the IV was over her temp was normal. No BP issues - all within normal range. She slept well and woke up the next day in a great mood. Morning temps normal. I'm about to go home for lunch and take her french fries and gravey... Will write more this afternoon.

Gracey is having a good day. She attacked her french fries then got a little sleepy. The IV is going well with no headaches. So far so good. Rash on right wrist seems to be fading with the new cream prescribed Tuesday. We are starting to be a little concerned with her veins and their ability to hold up to multiple IV's in the coming months. So far the last 4 IV sessions have required 3 to 5 attempts before success. The next Dr.'s visit is 12/11 and we will start asking about a port and what to look for in deciding whether or not to install one.

Picture Day!

Gracey woke up a little tired this morning after getting used to sleeping late the last week. Her temperature this morning was 99.6 (R) and 99.1 (L). She was also coughing just a little. Gave her a teaspoon of Robitussin and a teaspoon of Children's Advil. She was feeling good and was in a good mood. The medicine was just a precaution.

Since it was picture day at school she decided to get braids in her hair.

Last day of Thanksgiving vacation

Today is Sunday and the last day of a week off for the girls... all of them. Gracey and Rachaelle spent almost all week playing inside and out, coloring and watching movies. Lauren came on Thanksgiving and stayed through Saturday afternoon. Gracey has had a good week. She's ran a very low temp on some days (99.0 to 99.7) but mostly it's been normal. She's felt great! The only anomoly this week was on Saturday morning we noticed a circular rash on the outside of Gracey's right wrist. It was about the size of a silver dollar and was somewhat bumpy. It reminded me of ringworm but this was much larger and not as tightly dense as ringworm. We started applying Benedryl cream regularly and by Sunday night it's faded about 50%.

Her facial rash is still somewhat red and we apply lotion 2 to 4 times a day for dryness. However... Gracey feels great and has definitely enjoyed her week! Tomorrow is school picture day and Gracey is excited.

Gracey's World

Our sweet little Gracey was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Juvenile Dermatomyositis. We've created this site as a way to keep everyone informed as to Gracey's current status as well as all the fun things she comes up with. Thank you for your support and please keep checking back often.
